I disagree with Jack's decision to participate in sailing the ship to New York City. He could have found other ways to get money instead of transporting drugs. Jack also had no experience sailing, as he only built crates. When Rik asks Jack to help build a crate with a false bottom Jack realizes that drugs could be another way to make money. He doesn't know, however, that the FBI is aware of the drug trade before it even starts.
