Hole In My Life- Post 3

After reading chapter 3 of part 3 of the book, I found the latter half of the chapter to be remarkably similar to other prison themed stories I have read, such as Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King. As in King's famous novella, Jack Gantos was flirted with by a homosexual rapist, and discover that everybody in prison was a potential victim. The major difference between the two stories, however, is that Gantos' tale actually happened, increasing the appalling nature of the scene to a frightening level. It is odd how this one scene was enough to cause me to feel sympathy for Gantos, the drug-addicted, convicted felon who ruined lives in his quest for the almighty dollar.
