In the third part of the book Christopher's father runs after him to London creating a big fight between Roger, Christopher's mother, and his father. So Christopher's father goes back to Swindon. While Christopher is in London with his mother Roger and her have a fight because Roger says he isn't welcome to live in their flat. Christopher and his mother steal Rogers car and move back to Swindon where she buys a small room and Christopher has to hide from his father. In the end, Christopher passes his A level test, he gets golden retriever from his father, and they attempt to gradually work out their differences.
