When Jess tried to set up the intervention, I had thought that everything was going to work out and end up well for everybody. However, in life that usually never happens, and so this novel showed that. Readers would think that they would all make up with their friends and family, but by Horby not having that happen it teaches readers that sometimes in life the happy ending in not always real, and there are times where people can mess up so bad that there is just nothing they can do about it.
