I started reading Ghosts Of War last week, and it showed how Ryan Smithson was going to join the Army, right after he graduated high school. In the book, Ryan says (when the twin towers fell down) ,"The Twin Towers didn't fall in Manhattan. They fell on me." So he decided to join the Army and defend his country.
The first few chapters really describe why Ryan wanted to join the war, and how he felt about his girlfriend Heather.
I predict that they'll get married eventually and Ryan will continue his journey in the war.
