Ghosts of War 1

Something important that I took away from this novel was the fact that even though we have enemies in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., there are so many more people who need our help. A prime example is the children who beg for food from the soldiers. They don't have any clean water to drink or food to eat, and when they see the soldiers they get a surge of hope that their lives may become better. These are the people who need our help the most, and who we are really fighting for. Yet, for some reason, this story never gets covered and only exists in the shadow of all of the fighting and killing happening in the big cities, which is not affected by starvation and other extremes as much.
