A Long Way Down 1

In part one, the book starts off with each person's stories and why they want to kill themselves. Maureen wanted to jump because her son is in a coma and everyday is just another day seeing her son as a vegetable, she actually thinks that she wants nothing more than for her son, Matty to die just so she wouldn't have to see him suffer everyday. Martin wants to jump because his ex-wife and children hate him, he cheated on his wife with multiple girls, but the worst was that he slept with a 15 year old and got caught so he went to jail. I understand why Martin wants to kill himself because people call him a lot of names daily and he used to be on TV so people really recognize him and tell him that they hate him, but it is his own fault for going to jail. Jess never really had a good reason to kill herself, it was mostly about how Chas left her after a one night stand. Which I don't think a guy should be a reason to kill yourself, I think Jess should really look at the positives in her life. JJ's life is falling apart, he had a really great band and they don't play anymore. He told everyone else he was dying so he just wanted to get it over with. All of them end up getting off the roof to find Chas so Jess can get a closing. After that, they go to Martin's for some drinks and talk. After a long night they come to a conclusion that they will live for another six weeks and see if they still want to jump. Personally, I found the begining of this book very dragged out and hard to get into, it's starting to pick up though.
