It seems like throughout the book Martin had unfinished business with his ex's, whenever one of the other four people went to his ex's house they would complain that he just stormed out and left without telling and they don't wish to get back together with him. I think this may be one of the reasons Martin wants to kill himself because he got himself into a bad position and doesn't know how to get out of it.
