In the beginning of the novel, I thought that Jacob was
innocent because everyone was assuming that he was guilty. By the end of the
novel, I started to wonder if my previous prediction was incorrect. The trials
made me think that he was guilty because who else would have done it? The
trials also made me continue on guessing throughout the novel due to the fact
that it kept on going back and forth. I didn’t know whether to think he was
innocent or guilty. Overall, I think this novel was a good piece of literature.
