Defending Jacob 3

The end of this book was absolutely shocking. Jacob was set free because the child molester, who was also a suspect, killed himself and left a note sating he killed Ben Rifkin. Come to find out that Jacob's grandfather in jail had it all set up to happen with someone on the outside of jail that he knew. So we really do not find out if Jacob is truly guilty or not. The family goes on vacation to celebrate and sure enough a girl that Jacob becomes friendly with goes missing and her body washed ashore seven days later. So again the readers think the boy has killed again. The surprise comes when Jacob's father is being questioned about the murder but Jacob's mother is in trouble. She killed her son deliberately in a car accident. She drove straight into the concrete wall on the side of the highway. She ended his life so he would not kill again.
