In the end of the novel, I realize that prison was more like a lesson than punishment to Jack because the months Jack spent his time prison it was he realized it was a dark and cruel place for him. Jack realized that it was not a place for him. In prison Jack resisted the use of drugs and knows another mistake like that can ruin his life permanently.
