Long Way Down 1
I saw a Jess, one of the main characters in A Long Way Down change when she met and began to spend more time with Maureen, Martin and JJ.In the beginning of the book she was a self centered teenager who only cared about herself. She didn't have any interest in other people's problems or other's feelings. However, as Jess began to spend more time with Maureen, Martin and JJ she was able to see that other people had the same issues as her, and most were much more severe compared to Jess's issue of losing a boyfriend. She became connected to the others and she felt that they were all alike because they all wanted to end their own lives. Jess even went as far as putting together a get together of all of their "groups" friends and family; basically all of the reasons that the four of them wanted to end their lives. I found it interesting to watch Jess's character develop and become a more caring and less self centered person.
