When Q is driving on the highway and the two cows come into view, I automatically predicted that they were going to die or be severely injured being unable to fulfill their mission. This plot twist encourages the reader to think about the consequences if they were unable to continue on their search for Margo. If they couldn't continue maybe something would happen to Margo in that time span. After the crash they decide to continue on their journey to Algoe which shows the determination they have to find Margo.
