Andi’s perspective of hope that the author forms was a bit
alarming. It shows how desperate Andi has gotten. Hope often ties a person to
life and can be the one reason someone who is depressed will keep on living.
Because Andi tries so hard to avoid hoping for things like Virgil and Alex’s
safety, it shows that she doesn’t really have a reason to live anymore. As a
result, she comes close to suicide several times.
