This book is confusing so far and has many characters. When Rachel moves to Portland, Oregon with her grandmother she quickly figures out that she is different. “I learn that black people don’t have blue eyes. I learn that I am black. I have blue eyes.” I felt this was an important quote because it shouldn’t matter what other people think about her and her skin or eye color should not define her.
