Woman Warrior Post 2

I think it is a poor decision by Maxine (the author) to continue the tradition of believing that people who are not from China and Japan are ghosts. The reason I think she continues to believe this is because of the way she was raised and this is the only explanation for the differences in culture. Many times in our history when different cultures met, one culture would think less of the other. An example is when the Spanish settled in the Americas and treated the Native Americans as lower class. This is exactly what I think Maxine’s family is doing.  They are new to America and instead of trying to learn and understand this new culture and make friends, they treat all Americans as ghosts. I disagree with this tradition because, so far, their American neighbors have done no harm to them and there is no reason to continue this tradition.
