Defending Jacob 3

The ending of this book shocked me. Jacob gets in the car with his mom to go to another interview for school when she starts speeding up. Jacob yells at her to slow down but she doesn't. She tells him she loves him and then purposely crashes the car. Throughout the book, Jacob's mom made comments suggesting that he might be guilty. I don't think this was wrong because it did seem like he was guilty even though he was proven innocent. However, she takes it way to far when she kills both of them. I understand that she was trying to stop him from killing anyone else but there must have been another way to do it.
