A Long Way Down 2
A very important scene in the book is when the group decides to take Maureen on a vacation. To many of us, going on vacation isn't that big a deal, but to Maureen it made a giant difference in her life. She never has the chance to get away to paradise because of her disabled son, so this was her first time experiencing a vacation. The other characters don't realize it, but by taking her on vacation, it relaxes her greatly, and she is able to put her life into perspective and decide to not kill herself. It seems like such a simple thing to change someones life around, but for Maureen this was the only small boost she needed for that change to occur.
