Once all four characters are on the roof together, I predict that they are all going to come down and end up working through the feeling of wanting to kill themselves. The author makes this pretty predictable because the story starts off with the characters going onto the roof. Also, it would be quite a depressing book to read if the main characters died in the first few pages. I'd assume that they are all going to stay in contact somehow and overcome wanting to kill themselves, and go on to live their lives. I'd be very surprised if this isn't along the lines of what happens. If they do kill themselves,
Nick Hornby is quite a bold author.
