I can't imagine the emotional pain of knowing that your son has died, and the killer is still on the loose. Dan rifkin knows what it feels like. His son was killed and now has to deal with the process of grieving, something that happens when anyone dies. He is confused and questions Andy because he doesn't think anyone in their right mind could have killed his son.
