Defending Jacob 3

The ending of the book was very shocking, and it wasn’t what I was expecting. Mr. Barber supposedly had the “murder gene” in him, but didn’t show much of it and didn’t like to talk about it. Laurie was the one who kept her feelings to herself, and in therapy, we saw them all just explode. Laurie started to doubt her son, and think about his childhood and signs. Mr. Barber saw it as normal, whereas Laurie used the murder gene as an excuse for everything that was going on. An important scene is when Mrs. Barber killed Jacob. Now, Mr. Barber has to live his life without his son, and prosecute against his own wife. Meaning, he would live alone. This book had a lot of un-expected parts in it was was very interesting.
