defending jacob2

I found myself becoming more and more bored with the book as it went on. The title, for one, gives the reader an inclination that the whole book will be about "defending jacob" which makes me think for one thing that the whole book will be revolved around that, but it took an awful while to actually get to that part. Another thing I didn't like was the murder history in the family which was revealed. I feel like that part is just useless and has nothing to do with the actual murder that took place. I feel like that question would have never been asked in court, nor would someone ever have to bring it up because when you are to try someone for murder, it doesn't matter if the family members before him or her were murderers or even criminals, because that does not necessarily mean they are guilty because of that.
