ghosts of war 1

I really didn't know where the author was going during the first part of this book. H ehas just graduated high school and 9/11 has occured. He also has a girlfriend. Basic training for him was pretty harsh but from what he says thats how it is in all the camps around the countr, especially the one they sent him to in gthe Carolinas. It was also interesting to learn how some people take this different then others, and how they are mostly seperated when they graduate and flown to wherever they are needed. Basic training makes alot of people go home and Smithson talks about some pretty sad epieiences just in the training alone that could send chills down your spine. He explains alot of different weapons and army terms so it is not always an`easy read but he is without a doubt a talented story teller. He also explains how tough it is to have to leave his girlfriend hanging in the US while he is halfway across the world, and how strong she is during this time to remain alone and afraid for the author.
