A Long Way Down Part 2

In the second third of the story, Jess, JJ, Maureen, and Martin's story gets released to the press. Most of them are somewhat okay with it until Jess tells a reporter that what caused them to come down was a Matt Damon looking angel that told them not to jump. This makes JJ, Martin, and Maureen extremely angry because it makes them look crazy and puts them under the public's scrutiny when they are in their most vulnerable state. At this point in the story, I feel the most sympathy for Martin. Not only does Jess doing this bring his relations with a fifteen year old back into mind, but it makes him look like he is completely unstable. This makes his ex-wife trust him even less than she already did, slimming his chances of ever seeing his tow daughters again. He says that he "got further and further away, and the girls got smaller and smaller until they were just tiny dots. This makes him feel as though he doesn't need to worry how they feel for the same reason; as he says in the book, that we can kill ants. We can't see their faces so we don't feel guilt when we hurt them.
