Jack is offered ten thousand dollars to help navigate a boat full of marijuana to New York from St. Croix. Obviously this is a poor decision because of the likelihood of being caught and arrested, however I can honestly understand the decision he made to accept the offer. Jack's parents had almost no money to get him off the island of St. Croix, let alone get him into a college that he wants to go to. He's pressed for money and he's desperate to do anything for it. It seems as if his parents never really raised him well, so he doesn't feel guilty about doing this. I believe that if many of us were in his exact same situation, and had the same background as him, we would make the same choice.
