Although the end of Paper Towns disappointed me in a way, it
didn’t really surprise me. Throughout the story Quentin shows that he has too
many roots to leave the way Margo did, be it his friends or his parents or anything
else in his life. He also seems to have no desire to uproot his life in that
way. And because Margo was gone for almost the entire book, I had a feeling she
would never be returning. As a result,
they could not be together. However, I still hoped that somehow the end would
turn out differently than it did, with both of them heading in separate directions.
