The book is really confusing so far and it has many characters. When Rachel moved to Portland, Oregon with her grandma she quickly figured out that she is different. "I learn that black people don't have blue eyes. I learn that I am black. I have blue eyes." I thought that this is an important quote to mention because it shouldn't matter what other people think about her and her race or her eye color because these traits shouldn't define her.
