A Long Way Down 1

The beginning of A Long Way Down wasn't really how I expected it to start. It was really confusing and boring at first because there wasn't any important events happening and it didn't make me want to keep reading the book. Also, some of the reasons why these people wanted to kill themselves was really stupid. I can understand where Martin came from because he lost everything including his family, job, and house. It was clearly his desicion to mess up his life but it's still sad to see his life go from famous and popular to a total dissapointment. I think Maureen should have been less selfish towards her son because he can't help the way he is and she acts like he is the reason for all of her unhappiness. I think Jess had no reason to go and kill herself because although breaking up with someone could be very upsetting, there's no reason to go out and end your life. JJ didn't really have any reason to kill himself either because even though his band broke up, he could have easily just make up a new band that makes him happy to write music.
