A Long Way Down Post 3
I think the ending of this novel is very unique. The ending
of the book is happy but not a happily ever after ending. I think the author did
this to show that happiness often comes from friendship and when people feel needed
and important. He accomplished this through the four main characters.
I think the author, Nick Hornby, is teaching the reader that to be happy
a mansion, a prince, or millions of dollars are not needed. To be happy, all we really need are the
necessities of life (shelter, food and water), friendship, and the feeling of being
needed. Another theme of the story is to
be happy with what we have because there are many people who seem like
everything is fine, but they are in much worse situations.
