A Long Way Down Post 3

At the end of the book, Jess holds an intervention for the four of them. She invites everyone that cares about them or they care about and expects the night in the Starbucks basement to go very well. However, that is not the case. By the end of the night, Martin had gotten in a fight with one of Matty's nurses for flirting with Penny, JJ was angry at his friends, and Jess stormed out on her parents. The only thing that went well was that Maureen was invited to go to a quiz with Matty's nurses and gained some very needed friends. By the end though, JJ realizes that they all had the drive to kill themselves not because they hated living, but because they loved it, but they were shut out of it and couldn't find a way to get back into it.Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Although it would be thought to be a very depressing book because of the topic of the book, Hornby is able to make it lighter by using very different, yet very relateable, characters and adding in humor.
