The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time #2

Throughout the book Christopher uses math problems and logic as a distraction during stressful situations. For Example, on pg.161 he starts doing quadratic equations in his head because he has to wee but he is on a train with a policeman, and he doesn't know there is a bathroom so he can't go. Another example is on pg. 179, he is in the train station but there are so many people and loud noises he gets frightened. To calm himself down he sits at a table in the corner of the room. Then he closes his eyes and says," Left, right, left, right, left, right" as the trains are coming in and out of the station. then he says ,"Train coming. Train stopped. Train going. Silence." This calmed him down so much, he fell asleep for five hours.
